Digital Shadow — Cookie Policy

Effective: 21 April 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Digital Shadow ("we", "us", the "Service") uses cookies and similar technologies on its web app and landing site. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and Usage Policy.

1. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the site recognise you between page loads, keep you signed in, and measure how the site is used. We also use closely related technologies — such as browser local storage — for similar purposes. In this policy, "cookies" refers to all of these.

2. Why We Use Them

We use cookies for two purposes:

  1. To keep you signed in and make the app work.
  2. To understand how the app is used so we can improve it.

We do not use cookies for advertising. We do not use them to track you across other websites. There are no third-party marketing, retargeting, or social-media pixels on Digital Shadow.

3. The Cookies We Set

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the Service to function. Without them, you cannot sign in, stay signed in, or use the app securely. They are set automatically when you use the Service and do not require your consent under applicable law.

Purpose What it does
Authentication Keeps you signed in across page loads and sessions, and lets you sign out of specific devices.
Security Protects against session hijacking, cross-site request forgery, and similar attacks.
Preferences Remembers basic display preferences such as dark mode and timezone.

3.2 Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand which features are used, where errors happen, and how the Service is performing. The data is used only in aggregate — we do not use it to build profiles of individual users or to target advertising.

Purpose What it does
Usage analytics Counts visits, measures feature usage, and records anonymised performance data.
Error monitoring Records technical errors so we can debug and fix them.

Analytics cookies are set only after you consent (see §5). If you decline, we will not set them, and the Service will still work normally.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Our analytics and error-monitoring providers may set cookies on our behalf. These providers act as data processors and are bound by contracts that prohibit them from using the data for their own purposes. A current list of providers is available on request through the in-app feedback channel.

We do not allow third parties to set advertising or tracking cookies on the Service.

5. Your Choices

On first visit, we show a short banner asking whether you consent to analytics cookies. You can choose Accept or Decline. Declining does not degrade the Service — authentication and core features work either way.

At any time, you can change your decision through the cookie preferences link in the app footer.

In your browser, you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will break sign-in and most features. Blocking analytics cookies has no effect on usability.

Global privacy controls (such as the "Global Privacy Control" signal sent by some browsers) are treated as a request to decline analytics cookies.

6. How Long Cookies Last

You can clear all cookies at any time through your browser settings.

7. Changes

We will update this policy if we add, remove, or change the cookies we use. Material changes will be reflected in the cookie banner on your next visit. The effective date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated.

8. Contact

For questions about cookies or to request the current list of providers, contact the operator through the in-app feedback channel.

This Cookie Policy is read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data generally.
